Utah’s Hidden Gem – Brian Head Ski Resort

Brian Head Resort Ski and Snowboarding Slopes

Just 3 hours northeast of Las Vegas is the small town of Brian Head. This town is located at an elevation of 10,000 ft and is known for the Brian Head Ski Resort.

Brian Head Ski Resort is Utah’s hidden gem. If you love skiing or snowboarding with low crowds and cheap lift tickets, then this is the Resort for you! Brian Head is one of my favorite places to ski and I visited the Resort again this winter.

Hotel Accommodations

Brian Head has two major hotel accommodations, Cedar Breaks Lodge by Diamond Resorts and Best Western Premier Brian Head Hotel & Spa. Both hotels are absolutely beautiful with affordable prices. The Best Western just reopened The Lift Bar, a cozy mountain bar with a roaring fire and tasty drinks. The Lift Bar is the perfect place to visit after a long day of playing on the slopes.

Rental Shop

My go-to spot for rental equipment is Georg’s Ski Shop. A basic snowboard or ski rental is only $30 per day! They also have a multitude of retail products, such as clothing and accessories to keep you warm.

Fun fact: ask for discounted weekday lift tickets as they are only $30 per adult!

Brian Head Ski Lodges

Brian Head Ski Resort has extremely cheap lift tickets! Weekday lift tickets are $42 for adults and $30 for kids/seniors and weekend lift tickets are $59 for adults and $43 for kids/seniors.

Brian Head has two major ski lodges, Giant Steps Lodge and Navajo Lodge. If you are just learning how to ski or snowboard, then Navajo Lodge is perfect for you. The learning center and bunny slopes are on this mountain.

If you are more experienced but still want a selection of easy (green circles), more difficult (blue squares), most difficult (black diamonds), and expert (double black diamonds) runs, then Giant Steps Lodge is the mountain for you.

Giant Steps Lodge

I stayed on the Giant Steps side as I ski the ‘more difficult’ slopes. My favorite runs were Sunburst, Hunter’s Run, Bear Paw, Double Aught, and Hard Times. The main chairs for these runs are #2 Giant Steps Express and #5 Roulette.

Giant Steps Lodge has a delicious grill/bar called Last Chair Saloon. I ate lunch both days here as they have an extensive menu. I had the bacon cheeseburger with fries (amazing!!) and the pulled pork sandwich with fries. They serve local beers from the Utah area and the Golden Spike Hefeweizen was so refreshing mid-day.

Brian Head Ski Resort really is Utah’s hidden gem!

Until next time,
